We live in a world where more of our data is digitized than ever before. Every day we see stories about sensitive records being improperly accessed or stolen. And if nothing is done, more of people’s digital information and communication will be vulnerable to attack in the years to come. Fortunately, end-to-end encryption protects us from these vulnerabilities (via WhatsApp Blog)
Security by Default
WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption is now available on all platforms via latest version app build. WhatsApp’s in blog said, end-to-end encryption ensures only you and the person you’re communicating with can read what is sent, and nobody in between, not even WhatsApp.
This is because your messages are secured with a lock, and only the recipient and you have the special key needed to unlock and read them. For added protection, every message you send has its own unique lock and key.
You can also verify the code by scanning it on your contact’s phone or ask them to scan your code. You can also compare the code numbers to check if your conversation are end-to-end encrypted.
If you seeing error like above then you or your recipient haven’t updated the app, to use the new security feature you and your recipient both have to update the app for encryption, you may download latest build via WhatsApp website or via your preferred app store.
All this happen’s automatically, no need to setup or dive deeper into settings to configure it, which sometimes a bit confusing. So to make this process easier as you update the app, encryption service automatically get’s activated.
Speak Freely
Now talk freely, to your loved ones living in another country, without worrying about privacy issue. WhatsApp calls are end-to-end encrypted so WhatsApp and third parties can’t listen to them.
Messages that Stay with You
WhatsApp don’t even store messages on their servers as upon delivering them. Now with end-to-end encryption means that WhatsApp and third parties can’t read them anyway. So your message are with you and your recipient only.
See for Yourself
If you want to check your call or message you sent are encrypted or not. Simply look for the indicator in contact info or group info. If the green lock visible/activated then your conversation are encrypted.
So if you want more security or concern about your privacy then you should need to update the app right now and keep the conversation going on…
