
Google just rolled out a new way to unlock your device for “Smart Lock” with ‘On-body detection’ setting. This function uses your device accelerometer to identify whether device is on your hand, pocket or its put down on table, it is best solution to protect your device from unauthorised use.
Earlier Google added more security features to its new version of Android 5.0 Lollipop such as:
Trusted devices:
User can add trusted device to keep your device unlock when connected.
Trusted places:
This features let user to unlock device when reaching to preferred location.
Trusted face:
Although this features not much secure your device. This feature take screen shot of your face and save it to identify you.
On-body detection:
On-body detection just uses your phone accelerometer and identify according to it. As mentioned of image above if you unlock your device and hand it to someone else, your device will say unlocked as long the other person continues to hold or carry it.
This feature still rolling, so if you want to confirm on your device this new feature available or not. Check it by going Settings -> Security -> Smart Lock -> On-device detection.
Your devices only locked again if other person or you simply put it down. This way ‘On-body detection secures your android data from unauthorised use and do protect from theft.
