There are some fantastically irritating problems in the world, right? But the truth is, a lot of them are easily solved. Here are seven of the everyday challenges we all face on a regular basis – and the simple solutions.
Wet shoe solution
If you have been caught in a storm or stepped in a huge puddle, you’ll need to dry your shoes. But what if you are in a rush? Simple – just tie the laces together and put one of them in the tumble dryer with one hanging out, supporting its weight. Your shoe will dry without getting the rough treatment from your dryer.
Rubbish with receipts
If you’re fed up with losing all your business receipts all the time, there is a simple solution. Get the Evernote app and set up an accounts folder. Whenever you use your expenses, just take a photo of the receipt and save it to the folder with the amount as a title. You’ll have an instant list of all your expenses, plus photographic proof of purchase.
Punctured tyre
Nothing is more frustrating than getting a tyre puncture – especially when you are in a rush. But, the solution is simple. Either always carry a spare and learn how to change your tyre. Or, store the number of a mobile tyre fitting same day service on your phone.
Fast-ripening fruit
Problems in your fruit bowl? Try a little rearranging and keep your bananas separate from everything else. They release chemicals that make all fruit that is around them mature far quicker than they would normally. Try and find a shelf-like fruit holder, and keep your bananas on the top rack.
You can’t get to sleep
There are plenty of reasons why you might not be able to get to sleep. Stress, anxiety, too much caffeine – the list is endless. While ongoing sleep issues should see you visiting your GP, if it’s just one night, there are some simple things you can do. First of all, stop trying. When you try to force yourself to sleep, you will start getting even more anxious. Instead, get up, go downstairs, and have a cup of warm water or a glass of milk. Read a book – you’ll soon start to feel tired again. And, once you go back to bed, you should have fewer issues getting back to sleep.
Not enough time to iron
Woke up late? It happens to us all. And, it can put you in a real fix when you can’t find a clean, ironed, shirt. The solution is simple. Just bring the unironed clothes into the shower with you and hang them up in a dry spot. As you shower, the moisture and heat will steam out the creases.
Scratched furniture
Scratched furniture can ruin the look of a beautiful piece – but there is a simple solution. You don’t’ need to call out a French polisher – just give it a good rub with a walnut. It will darken the scratch and look as good as new within a few minutes.
