Smartphones are now become a part of our daily lifestyle gadget. We love to interact with our friends and family on various social networks like Twitter, Facebook or Google+. There are many apps which make our work easier and enhance our daily lifestyle activities.
Various apps requires data connection to perform a task and this makes some users to worry about their data usage as per according to plan they subscribe. If you are subscribe to unlimited data plan then no need to think about the usage but if you opted for limited data pack like 1GB for a month then you have to conscious about data usage.
So to limit your data usage Android have many customization or settings which let you keep track of your apps activities and their data usage. You can adjust those setting according to your plan. So let’s check out the tips to avoid data over-usage :
1). Restrict Background Data
If you want that no data usage activities perform background, then you may use Restrict Background Data setting. This perform by going Settings -> Data usage. There are list of apps you can also check out which app using much data and you can restrict that app from performing background data usage. This will surely help if maintaining your data usage.
2). Limiting Data Usage
This let you limit your data usage, as you reach your predefined usage limit warning you will be notified that you reached your data usage, this way help you to keep track of your usage and avoid over usage of data. You can activate this by simply going to Settings -> Data Usage -> Set cellular data limit.
3). Sync and Auto Update Apps
Always use sync service when you really want to use your sync services from your account like app data, calendar, contacts and many more etc. Remove all unwanted sync services use only which is important. This perform by going Settings -> Accounts.
Auto update apps use your background data to sync with the app to check if new version available or not. So if you don’t want that apps automatically updated, then you may have to deactivate this settings by going to Google Play store -> Settings -> Auto-update apps. There are 3 options to choose, if you want app to update automatically only over Wi-Fi then use the setting as soon in image above and if you don’t want to update app then simply choose 1st option.
4). YouTube App Data Usage
YouTube app consume lots of your data usage, so you have to limit its usage by going YouTube app -> Settings -> General and click on Limit mobile data usage.This will stream HD video on Wi-Fi connection. So this will help you to preserved your data. Another settings is to download videos so that you watch them later known as Offline. Go to YouTube app -> Settings -> Offline -> Quality -> Ask each time. This option will ask you in which quality video get downloaded. So if you are in Wi-Fi or Edge network this will benefit you.
5). Chrome (Reduced Data Usage) & Disable Unwanted Apps
Chrome is best browser but it consume lots of data by loading website in full without compressing them according to mobile. But now this possible on Chrome browser that you can compress the files size while browsing on Chrome this will reduced your data usage and website will load faster than before. You need to simply enable by going Chrome App -> Settings -> Reduced data usage.
If you have installed many apps but not using from a long time. Then you may simply uninstalled them. Many android mobile comes with pre-installed apps which you never used, but problem is that you can’t uninstalled them too, then simple solution is to disable them. This will help in data usage.
